Your Child’s Two-Year Progress Check

At Clare House Nursery, the two-year progress check is an important opportunity to celebrate your child’s achievements, understand how they are developing and work together to support their next steps. The check is a statutory requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is completed when a child is aged between two and three. It includes a short written summary of their development in the three Prime Areas: Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

This is not a test or a comparison with other children. It is a positive, supportive review based on what practitioners observe during your child’s everyday play, routines and experiences. By sharing what you notice at home, families help us build a complete picture of each child’s strengths, interests and individual needs. The check helps us recognise progress, identify where additional support may be helpful and agree appropriate next steps so every child can continue to grow, learn and thrive
